Midwifery Education & Experience
I am a Certified Professional Midwife and a Licensed Midwife in the state of VT. I graduated from the Mercy In Action College of Midwifery in 2000, and hold and Associate of Science in Midwifery granted by the National College of Midwifery. I have attended over 260 births, mostly in birth centers in the Philippines where I served as a missionary midwife. I continue to learn from each birth I am priveledged to attend, and from other midwives, continuing education, and participation in peer review.
I am the mother of two small boys, both of whom were born at home. Homebirth has been a natural part of my life since I was very young- the first birth I ever attended was the homebirth of my sister when I was 6 years old!
Philosophy of Practice
My philosophy of practice is to support the rights of mothers to birth how, where, and with whom they choose. I believe that God created our bodies with the ability to give birth naturally, and that women have the right to competent midwifery care in their own home environment. I consider it an honor to attend women and their families during this important and special time of their lives.
