Laureli Morrow

I began my midwifery education in 1986 at Sage Femme Midwifery School in Boulder Creek, CA., returning to my native NH to complete my training via apprenticeship.  During that time I gave birth to two sons, both born at home.  In 1992 I left midwifery, moved to Vermont and became an RN.  This was not an easy decision, but very important for my family and for my own personal growth. The last 12 years I have worked exclusively in the field of women and infant’s health and obstetrics, mainly as a nurse at a supportive birthing center.  In addition, I spent seven years as a volunteer at a free clinic doing women’s healthcare including GYN and breast exams.

I have attended almost 400 births, more than 100 of them at home.  Each one has been a miracle and has taught me to trust the natural process of birth.  I have also been fortunate to have worked with many women from varying cultures.  There are as many different ways to support women as there are women, and yet birth itself is universal.

My third son was born at home in 2004 and since then I have been in the process of rediscovering my true self as a midwife.  As I take time to be with him, I am focusing on returning to homebirths and getting licensed as a midwife (there was no licensure in VT or NH when I practiced in the early 1990’s).  I look forward to this process.

While I am not available as a primary midwife, I am available for:

  • Birth assistant for homebirths (midwife’s assistant)
  • Doula for home and hospital births
  • Hospital birth advocate
  • Lactation counseling and support
  • Private childbirth classes
  • Postpartum care
  • Birth option exploration
  • CPR instruction – infant, child and adult
